Project Overview
M. Neils provided the electrical and lighting design for this 20 acre neighborhood park site, of which 5 acres had already been developed. Design services included field investigation of the existing site, electrical power service and distribution for the Phase 2 construction, parking lot and pedestrian bike path lighting, electrical power connections to irrigation equipment, electrical and telecommunication conduits for future construction, and convenience outlets.
The lighting design and construction was required to be non-disruptive to the endangered burrowing owl nests on the site, so construction was phased in order to protect their habitat during nesting season from September to February. As part of an environmental education component of the project, M. Neils provided fiber connections for “owl cams” to remotely monitor the owl nests at the Explorit Science Center in Davis.
