Project Overview
M. Neils provided electrical engineering services for two 8,100 square foot police substations, designed as essential services buildings. The project scope included normal and emergency power systems, interior and exterior lighting, daylighting controls, telecommunications cabling, fire alarm and paging systems.
As a subconsultant to the project architect, M. Neils performed electrical, lighting, telecommunications cabling and low voltage systems design and prepared electrical drawings, specifications and opinion of cost.
These city buildings were the first public buildings in California fabricated of straw bale wall construction. The straw bale and concrete block walls provide ballistic and blast dissipation with the classic look of adobe.
